Poets such as Wordsworth, Byron and Keats were so captivated by the rugged beauty, which surrounded them that they created some of their most prominent work here. Artists, such as Ruskin, have also found the Lakes inspirational, capturing on canvas the very essence of the untameable countryside.

Stonegarth sits on the outskirts of the village, peaceful and secluded but with easy flat access to the village centre.
